Every guide in Theth has the same problem. You take a group up to the Valbona pass, you are out for three days, and by the second afternoon every phone, GPS and headtorch in the group is dead. The panels you can buy here are either toys that produce nothing under cloud, or 4 kg industrial units nobody wants to carry. Diell is a 480 g folding solar charger with a 20,000 mAh buffer battery, built for mountain use rather than beach use. Three things make it different: monocrystalline cells that still deliver 60% output under the overcast conditions we actually get here, a buffer battery so your phone charges at night rather than only in direct sun, and a housing rated IP67 that survives being dropped on limestone. We are two engineers from Shkodër. We have been through four prototypes over eighteen months, tested by eleven working mountain guides across two seasons. Prototype 4 is the one we want to manufacture: it survived a full season including a week of rain in Valbona. This campaign funds the first production run of 1,200 units: tooling for the injection-moulded housing, the cell order, certification (CE, UN38.3 for the battery), and assembly. Our manufacturing partner is in Prizren, four hours away, so we can stand on the line ourselves. Backing tiers: 89 EUR gets you a unit from the first run at roughly a third under the planned retail price. 150 EUR gets a unit plus the 40 W panel extension. 450 EUR is the guide pack — three units, which is what a working group actually needs. Estimated delivery is April 2026 and we will publish the production timeline monthly, including the parts that slip.

74% with three weeks to go. We have had questions about whether the buffer battery can be replaced: yes, four screws, and we will sell replacements at cost. We are not building a sealed disposable product.

CE testing booked with a lab in Ljubljana for 14 October. The UN38.3 battery certification is the long pole here — six to eight weeks — so we have started it early rather than waiting for the campaign to close.

Funded past 40% in the first ten days, which is roughly four times what we modelled. The tooling quote is signed as of this morning.

The repairability is the reason I backed, not the specs.
